This one-of-a-kind hand-painted ornament is inspired by the patterns found on 17th-19th Chinese blue and white porcelain. I used acrylic paints with and without water, achieving dimensional coverage, along with a watercolor-like application in some areas, allowing the background color to peak through the paint. Each ornament in the collection is a unique signed and dated piece, handcrafted to add a Chinoiserie accent to your holiday home.
Each paper mache’ ornament was coated with layers of gesso, then coated with two coats of a custom mixed acrylic base color that mimics a base porcelain glaze. I hand-painted each ornament using artists quality acrylic paints, and sealed them with archival gloss varnish. The bow is not affixed, allowing display without, or the option of adding your own.
